Float glass
For 4000 years, basic glass has been made of the same basic materials: quartz sand, lime, soda and dolomite. The float glass method has become established worldwide for the production of construction glass. This is a sensitive process where the basic materials are melted at great heat; the viscous mass is then "floated" over a tin bath and cooled down very slowly.
Here are some of the product attributes of float glass as made and used today at NOWAK GLAS:
- Standard glass thicknesses of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 19 mm
- High colour stability thanks to production standard
- Also available in bronze, grey, green and blue
- Can be combined with all function glazing together with laminated or toughened safety glass
- Simple further processing
- Applications: Float glass is used among others as the basis for
- coated solar control and thermal insulation glass
- laminated safety glass
- toughened safety glass
- insulation glass
